Ultimate Campaign Recap

Welcome to the Lillian Campaign comprehensive recap. This document contains everything you need to know about your characters, the people you've met, the world you now inhabit, and the events that have shaped your journey so far.

The world changed in the summer of 1993. What started as a birthday camping trip to Diablo Lake became something far stranger and more dangerous. You've been transformed, hunted, and thrust into a hidden world of supernatural horror that exists beneath the surface of everyday America.

This is your story.

Table of Contents

Your Characters

Hazel "Ivy" Martinez
Player: Ari | Monk | Human → Troll (Zandalari) | Age 25

Who You Were: Born in 1968, you grew up above your mother's panadería in South Seattle as the eldest of four. Your abuela secretly trained you in traditional martial arts while you balanced being the "perfect daughter" with a growing sense of rebellion.

Your Journey: At 15, your best friend Maria introduced you to Seattle's punk scene, which coincided with coming to terms with your sexuality. Your abuela's support ("El amor es amor") helped keep the family together when your mother struggled with your coming out.

You dropped out of college in 1988 to work at The Pit, a punk venue, where you developed a unique fighting style blending traditional techniques with street fighting. The 1992 Garden Rebellion cemented your transformation from dutiful daughter Hazel to community defender Ivy, founder of Riot Familia.

Now: At 25, you're an established figure in Seattle's underground—running The Basement's fight club, organizing punk shows, protecting queer youth, and making pan dulce that feeds hungry kids at shows. You're Jayden's older sister, Rocco's cousin, and you saved Zachary from muggers when he was 13.

Jayden Martinez
Player: Jamie | Artificer | Human → Warforged | Age 22

Who You Were: Born in 1971, you spent your youth between school and helping in the family bakery. While never exceptional at traditional schooling, you excelled in practical classes where you could work with physical components.

Your Gift: You have an affinity for understanding how things work when you can see the parts in front of you. Unfortunately, your early experiments often involved breaking family equipment by force—the bakery machines, the family car—leading to many grounding sessions as you tried to put things back together.

Now: You work as an apprentice mechanic at a garage, spending your free time disassembling broken parts to understand their mechanics and cobbling together working parts from scrap. You're Ivy's younger brother and Rocco's cousin.

Rocco Martinez
Player: Lewis | Barbarian | Human → Goliath | Age 24

Who You Were: Born in 1969, you were never the smartest in class, but you found your calling on the football field. Started in junior league making touchdowns before transitioning to defender, where you truly excelled.

Your Struggle: In high school you became a superstar player, but struggled with aggression—once putting an opposing player through a table, earning a suspension. You've tried to channel that energy more positively, with... mixed results. You've won games for your college team, but still sometimes put people in the hospital.

Now: You're a college football player with dreams of going pro. You're cousin to both Ivy and Jayden, part of the tight-knit Martinez family.

Ryan Kensington
Player: Jordan | Ranger | Human → Aasimar | Age 20-21

The Loss: Born in late 1972, you grew up in what seemed like a loving family until 1976, when your parents argued and your mother left. She's never been named or discussed since. That loss shaped everything that followed.

Finding Your Passion: In 1977, struggling in school, your father John took you to one of his archery competitions. Watching him win ignited something in you—you wanted to be an archer just like him. From that day, a passion grew.

The Circus: By age 15 in 1987, you'd honed your craft enough to join the circus, performing standard shots and trick shots to entertain crowds. Owners Luis and Alessia recruited you after a successful first night, and you've been performing regularly ever since.

Now: At 20-21, you're an established circus performer who barely passed your classes (your father wanted you to study, but archery always came first). Your family is financially secure from your father's competition winnings and your grandparents' inheritance. You're friends with Zachary and Ivy, and the Kensington family are patrons of the Anderson bookstore.

Sophie Jones
Player: Sunshine | Druid | Human → Eladrin | Age 25

The Legacy: Born April 1968 in New York, you grew up with parents who owned their own businesses and wanted white-collar success for their children. But you were always drawn to nature, animals, and photography—just like your grandfather.

The Inspiration: Your grandpa, an experienced hiker, would share photos of his adventures from all over the world. Those visits were cherished memories until his death when you were 15. From that day forward, your dedication to nature intensified—you were determined to continue his legacy.

Breaking Free: Your parents pushed hard for you to get a "proper" job, but the more they pushed, the stronger your dream grew. You started taking photos around the neighborhood on weekends, then expanded to traveling around the city, county, state, and eventually the entire country.

Now: You're an independent nature photographer, financially self-sufficient through photo sales and contest winnings. You've traveled to breathtaking places across America, and you sell your magazine through Zachary's bookstore. You joined the group during the Diablo Lake incident, caught in the same nightmare.

Zachary Anderson
Player: Sam | Warlock | Human → Verdan | Age 19

Abandoned: Born in 1974, you lived with your family in the suburbs until age 5, when you were abandoned by your parents. Your grandparents in Seattle took you in, and you've lived with them ever since.

Finding Family: Struggling to adjust to city life at age 13, you were saved from muggers by a girl named Ivy who beat the hell out of your attackers. She liked that you spoke your mind and didn't give in to anyone. You became friends and frequent visitor to her family's panadería.

The Bookstore: Living in your grandparents' antique bookstore, you gradually took over duties as they aged—cooking meals, ordering stock, manning the store. At 17, they took in a young man named Kevin who became your best friend.

The Mystery: For your 20th birthday (upcoming), your grandparents gave you a book you cannot read or open. They've encouraged you to experience more of the world beyond the bookstore.

Now: At 19, you're a competent partial owner of the bookstore, friends with Ivy (since she saved you), Ryan (through his family's patronage of your store), and connected to Sophie (who sells her magazine at your shop). The mysterious book survived everything at Diablo Lake and remains unopened.

People You've Met

The Hunters - Your Allies

A group of experienced supernatural hunters who rescued you from Diablo Lake. They travel America helping where they can, and they've agreed to take you somewhere safe and teach you about this hidden world.

Samantha Rodriguez (Age 47)

Background: Former US Army Logistics Officer, Vietnam Veteran (1968-1970). She's Latina, 5'6", with short salt-and-pepper hair and burn scars on her left forearm. Always wears dog tags under civilian clothes.

What You've Learned: She served in logistics during Vietnam and witnessed things the official record doesn't mention—supernatural forces that defended the land. She speaks bluntly, is methodical and prepared, and serves as the team's tactical planner and quartermaster.

Role: She's protective of younger people facing the supernatural and has made it clear she won't let you face this alone. She handles the team's planning and supplies.

John Hayes (Age 49)

Background: Former US Army Officer, Vietnam Veteran (1967-1971). White man, 6'1", graying brown hair kept military short. Claw marks scar his back from something in Laos.

What You've Learned: He led men in Vietnam and saw supernatural forces tear through trained soldiers. Lost half his platoon to things the brass wouldn't acknowledge. He's the field leader of the hunter group.

Role: Natural leader who stays calm under pressure. He fought beside you against the underground creatures and coordinated the rescue operation. Treats the hunting team like his platoon—everyone goes home alive.

Tom Sullivan (Age 38)

Background: Former mailman, attacked by a vampire spawn (chupacabra) during an early morning route in New Mexico, 1989. White man, 5'10", friendly face with faint scars on neck and shoulder.

What You've Learned: The attack changed his life—he couldn't go back to normal knowing what was out there. He's the newest hunter (only 4 years), genuinely friendly, and uses small-town charm to put people at ease.

Role: The "nice guy" of the group who asks questions when he doesn't know something. Good with people and knows back roads across America from his mail routes.

Lisbeth Armitage (Age 31)

Background: Generational hunter, born into the life. White woman, 5'8", long dark hair usually in a practical braid. Wears family heirloom jewelry that serves as protective talismans.

What You've Learned: The Armitage family has been hunting supernatural threats for at least six generations. She was raised knowing monsters are real and trained from childhood. Carries her great-grandmother's journal of hunts dating back to 1847.

Role: The knowledge expert with encyclopedic understanding of supernatural creatures, rituals, and occult history. She trained Tom and takes hunting very seriously as a sacred calling.

Fellow Survivors

Michelle Parker (Age 27)

Who She Was: White woman with blonde hair, pursuing a Master's degree in Environmental Science at University of Washington. Planned the Diablo Lake hiking trip with Valerie as a break from thesis stress.

What Happened: You found her starving and desperate, separated from Valerie for days. She sought your help to rescue her best friend. Brave and resourceful despite the trauma.

Now: Transformed by the mana surge, traveling with your group and the hunters. Struggling to understand what's happening but grateful you saved Valerie. Still processing that her entire understanding of reality was wrong.

Valerie Chen (Age 26)

Who She Was: Asian-American woman, elementary school teacher in Seattle. Went hiking with Michelle to disconnect from work stress and enjoy nature. Taught third grade and loved her students.

What Happened: Captured by the cave people early in the trip, held at Diablo Lake Dam for days in darkness. You rescued her during a dangerous mission. The experience left her traumatized—PTSD, nightmares, panic attacks in enclosed spaces.

Now: More severely affected by the mana surge due to prolonged exposure during captivity. Her transformation is progressing faster than Michelle's. Deeply grateful to you for the rescue, but struggling with what she's becoming and whether she can ever return to teaching children.

The Mysterious

Harold

The Hermit: You met this weathered old man (approximately 65-70) living in the woods near Diablo Lake. Long gray-white beard, clothing made from natural materials. He moved through the forest with supernatural ease.

The Plan: Harold suggested bombing the mine entrance with TNT as if it was the obvious solution. His communication was cryptic and strange—riddles and half-finished thoughts that made sense to him but confused you. He seemed to know more than he could articulate.

His Fate: During the escape from the mine explosion, a giant skinworm hit him. You never found a body. Whether he's dead, survived through druidic magic, or became something else entirely is unknown.

Travis Daniels

The "Ranger": You met Travis who presented himself as a Park Ranger at Diablo Lake. Clean-cut, fit, 24 years old, perfectly maintained ranger uniform. He seemed professional but nervous.

The Truth: You later discovered Travis was actually an Overwatch Foundation field agent—newly hired, using the park ranger position as cover to monitor and report on supernatural activity in the area.

His Fate: Travis went to get help before the Foundation locked down the area. He never came back. You never saw him again. Possible outcomes: the Foundation "retired" him for failing his mission, creatures killed him, or he's contained somewhere for exposure to the mana surge.

Avomba

The Encounter: You first met this hunched older woman at Corkin Dale Gas Station on your way to Diablo Lake. She appeared to "work there" with Earl, the owner. The encounter was strange and deeply unnerving.

The Following: Throughout your time at Diablo Lake, Avomba appeared in ways that shouldn't be possible—in places she couldn't reach, in moments of stress, in dreams and visions. Her presence made reality feel thin and wrong.

What You Know: Something is fundamentally wrong about Avomba. Details shift if you look too long. She moves in ways that violate natural laws. Sometimes you see her in peripheral vision, gone when you look directly. Her eyes are the worst part—though exactly why is hard to articulate.

The Mystery: You don't know what she truly is, what she wants, or if she can be stopped. She seems to be following your group, appearing physically and mentally. Some of you are affected more than others.

The Overwatch Foundation

Iris

What You Know: Iris was the person Jayden spoke with when booking the cabin at Diablo Lake. You've never seen her in person—only heard her voice over the walkie-talkie after the Foundation locked down the area.

The Voice: She sounded professional, composed, intelligent. Her words were carefully chosen. She seemed unsurprised by what was happening and showed particular interest in the changes you were undergoing.

The Implication: It's become clear that Iris works for the Overwatch Foundation in some capacity and may have had a role in setting up your "vacation" to Diablo Lake. What her true position is, what she wants, and whether you'll encounter her again remain unknown.

The World You Now Know

The world you thought you knew was a lie. Beneath the surface of 1990s America, a supernatural reality has always existed—cryptids in forests, spirits in shadows, things that go bump in the night. For most of human history, these were rare, isolated, carefully hidden.

That's changing. Something called "mana" is flooding into our reality from another dimension in concentrated events called Mana Surges. You were caught in one. You've been transformed by it. And you're learning that you're not alone in this hidden world.

Mana Surges - What You've Experienced

What Happened to You: At Diablo Lake, when Harold's TNT exploded at the mine entrance, something catastrophic occurred. The ground bled. Blood rained upward toward the sky. Monsters appeared from the earth everywhere. Reality itself seemed to break down.

The Transformation: You were all caught in this massive mana surge. The raw magical energy flooding from another dimension changed you fundamentally:

The Awakening: The morning before the cabin siege, you entered a dream-like state. Each of you met a spiritual version of yourself who revealed the truth: you always had these abilities. They were dormant, waiting. The supernatural events at Diablo Lake were your wake-up call to be your true selves.

What the Hunters Say: Mana surges are increasing in frequency and intensity. The barriers between our world and others are thinning. More people are being affected. More creatures are crossing over. Things are escalating.

The Factions

The Overwatch Foundation

What You've Learned: A clandestine organization operating globally to contain, study, and control supernatural phenomena. To the public, they don't exist. To those who know, they're either humanity's shield against darkness or an authoritarian force deciding what truth people deserve.

What They Did to You:

What You Don't Know: Their true goals, how much power they have, what they do with people they "contain," or what they want with transformed individuals like you.

The Hunters

What You've Learned: There's no single "Hunter Organization"—just people who've seen too much and decided to do something about it. Solo hunters, small teams, family operations, loose regional networks. They fight supernatural threats, share information through underground channels, and help people affected by the supernatural.

Why They Helped You: Because someone has to stand between innocent people and the things that go bump in the night. The Foundation can't be trusted to prioritize human lives over control. You needed help, so they came.

What They're Offering: Safety, training, information, and a chance to understand what you've become. They're taking you to a safe house and will teach you how to survive in this hidden world.

The Hidden Reality

What You Now Know Is Real:

The Prologue: Diablo Lake Incident

Summer 1993 - Zachary's 20th Birthday Trip

The Setup

The Plan: A two-week summer vacation at a rented cabin in Diablo Canyon to celebrate Zachary's birthday. You had an itinerary—hiking, swimming in Diablo Lake, checking out the firewatch tower, exploring old mines, testing courage at a haunted cabin. Just friends having a good time in the North Cascades.

What Actually Happened: You were trapped in an Overwatch Foundation containment zone during a catastrophic mana surge event. You fought monsters from an underground flesh pit, were transformed by magical energy, and barely escaped with your lives.

Duration: Approximately one week (not the planned two weeks).

Arrival & First Contact

Meeting Avomba

At Corkin Dale Gas Station, you encountered the strange hunched woman named Avomba. The interaction was unnerving in ways you couldn't quite articulate. This was the beginning of her following you.

The Watchers

The cave people were already observing you from a distance when you arrived at the cabin. Nude but featureless (like dolls), they were curious about you rather than immediately hostile. Their presence throughout those early days was terrifying even though they didn't attack.

The Mines Expedition

Worst Possible Choice

You decided to explore the abandoned mines of Pinnacle Peak. What you found beneath was no normal cave system.

The Mystery Flesh Pit

Below the mines: a massive living entity. An organic horror spawning creatures that should not exist. You realized too late that you'd stumbled into something far beyond a normal camping trip.

The Creatures
First Combat

As you tried to escape, creatures were coming IN while you were trying to get OUT. You fought for your lives and decided you needed to get as far from Diablo Lake as possible.

Failed Escape & Containment

Meeting Travis

Travis Daniels, the "Park Ranger," tried to help you. He went to get assistance but never came back. You later learned he was actually an Overwatch Foundation agent.

The Lockdown

The Overwatch Foundation had blocked off the entire Diablo Lake area. You were trapped in a containment zone. Over walkie-talkies, they basically told you "Good Luck" and left you to survive.

Finding Resources

You discovered an Overwatch Foundation shed near the firewatch tower with pistols, shotguns, and walkie-talkies. The tower's log book revealed the truth—it documented supernatural events, not fires. The "ranger" position was Foundation surveillance.

Rescue Mission

Finding Michelle

Michelle Parker stumbled into your group—starving, dehydrated, desperate. Her best friend Valerie had been taken by the cave people days ago.

Diablo Lake Dam

You launched a rescue mission to save Valerie from the Dam. The Dam itself was wrong—built as containment for something from the 1800s, with breathing sounds audible in the walls.

You fought the cave people in your first real combat and successfully rescued Valerie. Then you fled from a giant human centipede in a terrifying chase sequence.

Aftermath

Michelle and Valerie took refuge at the firewatch tower while you returned to find the cabin ransacked. You relocated to Travis's old cabin for better defense.

The Faction Choice

Dual Contact

A critical moment: the Hunters contacted you via firewatch tower radio. The Overwatch Foundation contacted via walkie-talkie. You had to choose who to trust.

You chose the Hunters. They promised to come rescue you.

Sophie Joins

Ivy and Ryan, returning from the tower, met Sophie Jones on the way. She'd been photographing nature in the area and was caught in the same nightmare. She joined you just in time for the siege.

The Awakening

Spiritual Transformation

The morning before the siege, something profound happened. You all entered a dream-like state.

Each of you met a spiritual version of yourself. They spoke truth you somehow recognized: You always knew these classes. You always had these abilities. They were dormant within you, waiting. This is your wake-up call to be your true selves.

You woke up changed. Level 1. Powers awakening. You could feel abilities you somehow always had but never accessed.

The Cabin Siege

Wave Defense

Fog rolled in. Waves of underground creatures attacked the cabin. You defended with your newly awakened abilities—your first time using these powers in real combat.

You fought against overwhelming odds. The cabin was destroyed, but you survived.

Harold's Plan

The Hermit's Solution

Fleeing the destroyed cabin, you encountered Harold—the strange druid hermit living in the woods. His communication was cryptic, but his plan was simple: destroy the mine entrance with TNT to stop creatures from emerging.

Desperate times. Desperate measures. You agreed.

The Explosion & Mana Surge

The Detonation

You successfully planted the TNT and triggered the explosion at the mine entrance.

All Hell Broke Loose

What happened next defied reality:

Harold's Fate

During the chaos, a giant skinworm emerged and hit Harold. You never found his body. His fate remains unknown.

The Escape

You ran for your lives through an apocalyptic landscape—blood rain, creatures everywhere, reality fracturing. You reunited with Michelle and Valerie and fled over the mountain toward the rendezvous point.

Exodus

Meeting the Hunters

You found Samantha Rodriguez, John Hayes, Tom Sullivan, and Lisbeth Armitage already engaged in combat with underground creatures. They were fighting their way TO you even as you fled toward them.

Together, you killed the remaining monsters.

The Escape

Everyone piled into the hunters' vehicle. You fled Diablo Lake for good—leaving behind the containment zone, the blood rain, the horrors, and a mystery you still don't fully understand.

The Overwatch Foundation presumably locked down the entire area behind you.

Where You Are Now

End of Prologue - Beginning of Chapter 1

What You've Become

Your Transformations

Michelle and Valerie were also transformed by the mana surge. You're all still learning what you've become and what you can do.

Your Current Situation

Physical State: Exhausted but alive. Transformed—adjusting to new bodies and abilities. Some injuries from combat. Traumatized from the events.

Mental State: Confused about what you've become. Grief over Harold and Travis. Fear that the Foundation might be hunting you. Uncertainty about the future. Gratitude toward the Hunters.

Material State: You lost most personal belongings at the cabin. You have weapons from the Overwatch shed. Zachary still has his mysterious book (still can't open it).

Relationships: Bonded through shared trauma. Sophie, Michelle, and Valerie are now part of your group. You're allied with the Hunters. You're likely being hunted by the Overwatch Foundation. Avomba is still following you somehow.

What's Next: The Hunters are taking you to their safe house. They'll help you understand your transformations, teach you how to survive in this hidden world, and decide what role you want to play in the conflicts between the Foundation, the Hunters, and the supernatural forces emerging across America.
